Weekend Highlights: 14 Dec 2019
It seems that as we enter December, the density of scrimmage increases unboundedly - except in France, where they simply hold a huge number of triple header fixtures instead. Apologies to France, then, this week: we had to pick a small number of the many events you have on in order to keep to our rules.
The rules are, as usual: highlights limited to 1 event per country, with an "extra" event allowed for a different kind of fixture (so, 1 tournament and 1 bootcamp), or if they involve Scottish leagues (since we are the Scottish Roller Derby Blog). Other notability might also allow the extra event - great posters, notable teams, etc. (League birthdays may count as "special" enough, at our discretion ;) )
In a bid to make this list as useful as possible, we've avoided links to Facebook except where noted. (Links to Teams are to non-Facebook resources - Instagram, or actual team pages - we'd strongly recommend that Teams get themselves an actual webpage [we can help host one if you need help]).

Thurs-the new Year!: Montreuil, France
Le Mange Disc hosts an exhibition of art by illustrators Mucho Michaud and Séverine Zemoz, on the theme of Roller Derby! The artists are both members of leagues (Lutèce Destroyeuses and Nasty Pêcheresses), and have contributed work to their leagues over the past time.
This exhibition, titled Radikal Tropikal, aims to promote the sport, and its feminist values, via the medium of their art.

Barcelona Roller Derby host an end of season bootcamp coached by Mia Palau (Rose City Rollers) on Saturday, and Juke Boxx (Barcelona Roller Derby) on the Sunday. As is usual for these things, the Sunday bootcamp concludes with a scrimmage for all attendees.

Rainy City Roller Derby and the Knights of Oldham co-host the traditional end-of-year Manchester Christmas Intra-league games, as all of the Manchester Metropolitan area's leagues come together to close the season. As this is a festive event, you can also expect mulled wine, mince pies... and a "Reverse Gotto", allowing children to donate gifts to Santa to deliver to Wood Street Mission.

Independencia Roller Derby host a fundraising event in order to raise money to repair their track!
As well as the headline bout, featuring skaters from across Argentina, there will be live music from local bands Tourquiza, Los Papachos, Gus Lezcano, Critical Haze and The Innocent Boy, and Antifa Crew, as well as many stalls and other entertainments.

Huiñas Roller Derby host the third edition of QuadBeer, their annual end of year tournament [which also happens to include artesanal beers]. This edition is run as a "quadrangular", a round robin for 4 teams, over two days. Officiating support for this event in Patagonia provided by funds raised by Un Sol Para Lxs Oficialxs last weekend.
